Cake ForTwo

For her birthday we were taking Secily out to eat at a restaurant of her choosing. When everyone came to get me from work to go to dinner I got in the car and started asking Secily where she wanted to go. She had picked Red Lobster earlier in the day because she wanted to see the lobsters swimming in the tank. But I wanted to hear this from her so I was asking anyways.

Somewhere along the lines she had gotten fixated on birthday cake so when I asked her why she wanted to go to Red Lobster she said because of birthday cake. Then trying to coax the other answer out of her I got some more interesting answers. The conversation went a little like this:

Me: So, why do you want to go to Red Lobster?
Secily: They have birthday cake!
Me: Oh Yeah? Do they have something else?
Secily: ummm, GOOD birthday cake!!!!!
Me: No, no. Something else. Not birthday cake.
Secily: ummm… Chocolate birthday cake??
Me: They swim around?
Secily: ummm. I dunno.
Me: Lobsters. Do you want to see the lobsters?
Secily: Lobsters swim in my birthday cake?!?!?!

We had a laugh and finished out the conversation. Connor and I moved on to something else and I could hear Tracy continuing to take to Secily. They were talking about God and how he’ll love to wish her a happy birthday and how he’ll have more room in her heart because she is growing up and getting bigger. Then she gets quiet for a sec like she is working something out and finally puts it to words.

“I get birthday cake. Jesus will get birthday cake too since Jesus lives in my heart. I think I’ll need two pieces of birthday cake!!!”

Quite a jump in logical thinking coming from a just-turned-four-year-old. I think we are going to have to watch out for this one.

Odd Vocabulary

Meat pouch = ravioli.

Yo, Adrian!!!!

This picture is worth a thousand words but this one still needs an explanation. And NO, we didn’t hit him too hard or anything like that.

Connor had a collision during football practice with another play which resulted in 4 stitches on the eyelid and 3 under the eye. The picture was taken about 7 hours after it happened.  This picture was taken at about 12:30am after Tracy and Connor got home from the emergency room.  They actually went to a doc-in-the-box first but they didn’t want to deal with it (either too close to quitting time or they were concerned that he might have a broken bone under there).

Yesterday he was at the peek of his swelling.  I’m not sure if Tracy got a picture of his eye almost swollen shut or not.  Amazingly enough, he still isn’t that black and blue from it.

He has been great all through it.  Tracy said that he did great at the emergency room Monday and really well at his Doc appointment yesterday (when they removed that plastic bandage). The Doc at the emergency room was kidding him about playing football… saying that she’d expect to see him again a couple more times over the next couple years.  Even with that kidding around he has a great attitude about football and is eager to get back on the field. He was actually worried that he’d miss practice and a game.

I’m proud of him.

Where does she come up with these things?

A couple of days ago when we were driving home, we came up on a car that had run off the road.  There was a sheriff’s deputy standing in the middle of the road directing traffic around the scene.  As soon as Madeline saw him, she shouts “Everybody! Just act natural!”  I really don’t know where she comes up with these things.  🙂

What A Long Day

I think we were out too long today for this little guy.

Umm, That’s Not a House

We were driving a way we normally don’t take with the kids in the car. It’s around a few houses and then comes out at the back side of a hotel. As we drive up past the hotel we hear from the backseat Madeline say, “whoa! They have a lot of kids.”

I guess since that ‘house’ had a lot of bedrooms it equated to having a lot of kids.

Happy Birthday

Born at 4:18pm on 8/9/10. 9lbs 1oz. 21″ long. With a birthday like that maybe I’ll be able to remember it.

Looky What Popped Up

This popped up at the O’Connor’s BBQ a couple weeks back. The picture probably doesn’t do it justice. A little after trying to piece this pic together we actually saw that a double rainbow was starting. It never fully developed tho.

The BBQ was great.  The Brain made a good sacrifice for us.

iPhone Posting May Make This Easier

I’ve finally taken the time to update the site to make it more friendly for mobile use. I’ve even evaluated some iPhone apps for posting to the site and the gallery.

I figure a new kid is coming so it’s time to update. It usually works out that way huh? We have a kid and I get busy updating this thing to help distribute photos of the new baby.

Anyways, if I can post using my phone maybe there will be a lot more short little updates so we can remember all the funny little things our kids do. And get picture updates to boot.

Time for… Unique Shadowpuppets!

Take a wild guess what this is:

Give up?  How ’bout if I tell you that the kids really love that nature show on the Discover Channel called Life.  Still no idea?  What if the latest episode they watched was called Plants.  Still no clue?  How ’bout if I give you the hint that this plant eats flies?  Ok… that last one should have given it away.  That picture up there was an out-of-the-blue shadow puppet that Madeline came up with one night while she was playing around not trying to be put to bed.  “Look mommy, It’s a Venus Fly Trap.”

Made me laff when Tracy told me about it.
