Connor’s Birthday

Goodbye From Moe’s!!!

We were all eating at Moe’s Southwest Grill on Archer Rd (you know, the place where all the burrito line cooks shout “Welcome to Moe’s” everytime someone enters the restaurant).  Having a good time and all that.  The kids were done eating and getting a little punchy (it was 9pm and past their collective bedtimes).  Connor is up out of his chair looking at the big motorcycle promotional sign they had at the front and a few people leave out the front door, to which, you guessed it, Connor shouts, “GOODBYE FROM MOE’S!”.

I had a GOOD DREAM!!!

Normally not a bad thing is it?  Well… what if it’s at 3am in the morning after  your 2 week old baby has woken you up for a diaper change at 2am and you worked till 1:30am changing light kits and unpacking boxes in a new house?

That’s exactly what Connor did tho.

A little after 3am he started calling from his room, ‘Daddy… Daddy… Daddy…’.  I grogglely walk into the room and ask, ‘What is it Connor?’ and notice that his eyes are closed and he’s still calling, ‘Daddy… Daddy…’

He responds to my question with a smile on his face, ‘I just wanted to tell you I had a dream… and it was a GOOD dream.’

‘Oh thank you Connor, Now go back to sleep,’ I mutter.

One day I’ll look back and think it’s sweet.  But right now, I coulda used the sleep.

The day behind this day?

Connor is working on his own way of telling time and relationships to time.  For instance, do you know what ‘the day behind this day’ is?  Figure it out yet?  It’s ‘yesterday.’

Our Little Entrepreneur

The other day as we were driving by Sonic Connor asked for a slushie. I asked him how he was going to pay for it. To which he asked, ‘Daddy, can I have some money?’ I responded, ‘Money?’ I wanted to know what he was going to do with it. He matter of factly said, ‘You know, the green paper… with those peoples faces on it.’ Like I didn’t know what money was.

Simon Says

We’ve taken to playing some basic childrens games now as Connor starts to grasp the rules. Besides the hot-and-cold game one of his favorites is Simon Says. This is one game that we’ve taken to entertaining Connor in the car with. Well, today on the way into town we were playing. As Annalise so often does, she was crying (she just doesn’t like her car seat). Connor wanted a turn as Simon. His first command, “Simon says ‘cry’… very good Annalise!”

Yeah, but Tyler is my best buddy!

At church we were singing a praise and worship song called “I am a friend of God.” Nanny was holding Connor and said to him, “Do you know you are a friend of God.” Connor quickly answered, “Yeah, but Tyler is my best buddy!”

She Can’t Drive!

I was changing Annalise’s diaper and talking to her. She got to kicking and sqirming so much that she was starting to move outta the area where I was changing her. As I was talking to her I teased, “Where do you think you’re going little one?” Connor was watching and in a tone of voice that was like don’t-you-know-any-better-Daddy answered my rhetorical question, “She can’t go anywhere Daddy; she can’t drive.”

I Want Another Daddy

Today Connor told Mommy, ‘I want another daddy.’

What!

Actually, it’s not what you think. Tracy asked why and he responded, ‘Because they’re a lot of fun.’ (I was outside giving Jazz a bath and letting him play with the hose when I didn’t need it.)

Cutie-Pie Honey-Bunch

I was putting Connor and Annalise into their car seats getting ready to leave the house the other morning. Connor was already buckled in and as I was putting Annalise into her seat she started crying. So I started talking to her. “Hey cutie-pie, don’t be doin that,” I’d say. Connor got a little testy and said, “No, don’t call her that.” To which I replied, “Why? She is cute isn’t she?” And he said, “Yes… but she’s not a pie.”
